Become a Volunteer
Western Avenue Community Center would not have a story to tell if it were not for our dedicated volunteers. We believe that all volunteers can make a positive impact on the Western Avenue Community Center and on the lives of the clients served. Our hope is that the volunteers also feel blessed by their service to others.

Hispanic Outreach Program
Interpretation & Translation Services
The Hispanic Outreach Program seeks volunteers who are fluent in Spanish and have knowledge of the culture to assist clients with interpretation and translation of government, medical and legal documents, and communication with landlords, employers, schools and other community agencies. Senior Programs
The Senior Programs seek volunteers to set up, decorate and/or serve for quarterly dinner-dances, assist with monthly BINGO, and interact with Seniors during various activities. Please reach out to Orman Jones 309-829-4807 for more information.
Youth Programs
Our Youth Programs seek volunteers to help set up program materials, serve snacks, and interact with the students in educational and recreational activities. Volunteers also have the opportunity to plan lessons or activities for the students. All volunteers interested in working with any of our youth programs will be asked to complete a background check and fill out a volunteer form. Food Program
The Food Program seeks volunteers to help unload and organize food boxes on the second Friday of every month. Please reach out to Celia Castillo 309-829-4807 for more information.
Special Event Volunteers
We are always in need of volunteers to help set up, take down, and support activities during special events or fundraisers.
